Chennai:
Parliament Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by Rajya Sabha MP Venkaiah Naidu will review coastal security and disaster management along Chennai’s coast.
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited spokesman said the 15-member delegation, which will also include senior BJP leader L K Advani, arrived in Chennai on Wednesday. “They will visit Madras Atomic Power Station in Kalpakkam On Thursday,” the spokesman added.
“The delegation will later take a chopper on Thursday morning to visit Madras Atomic Power Station besides watch a 30 minute presentation at Kalpakkam,” the spokesman said while disclosing the schedule.
NPCIL spokesman also said the visit is a routine exercise and refused to specify further. The delegation will also visit Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited in Manali and Chennai Port Trust on Friday.
Port Trust sources confirmed that the delegation would visit Port Trust and review coastal security and disaster management.
