Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has rejected reports that it has approved Terms of Reference for carrying out Environment Impact Assessment study for construction of new Mullaperiyar dam in Idukki district of Kerala.
"It is clarified that NO approval has been granted for carrying out Environment Impact Assessment study for construction of new Mullaperiyar dam in Idukki district of Kerala," the ministry stated.
