Dr Arun Kumar Bhaduri is the new director of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam.
He takes over the charge from Dr S A V Satya Murty, who superannuated on Thursday.
An alumni of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Bhad uri joined the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research at Kalpakkam in 1984, where he rose to become Director of Metallurgy and Materials Group and also a Senior Professor of the Homi Bhabha National Institute.
A recipient of Humboldt Research Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany in 1994, he also carried out post- doctoral research in University of Stuttgart, Germany for two years.
He is steering the research and development on the development of materials and their fabrication technologies for Indian programmes on sodium-cooled fast reactors, fusion reactors and advanced ultra supercritical thermal power plants.
He specializes in the field of materials joining and has to his credit more than 220 journal publications, 360 conference presentations and t wo international patents.
