CII plea to defer new power tariff for industries

Chennai:
Confederation of Indian Industry, Tamil Nadu has urged the state government to consider implementing the new power tariff regime once the restriction and control measures are lifted.

CII said it is making the request due to the reason that the present increase in power tariff would put an additional burden on the industry which is already suffering from high cost of self generated power or loss of production capacity due to the power restrictions currently in force.

CII said that it recognises that it is essential to increase the power tariff for improving the current financial position of TANGEDCO and for ensuring its future capacity expansion and sustainability but considering the difficult times being faced by the manufacturing sector it requests the government to consider a staged revision in the tariff for the manufacturing sector.
