Beauty takes a backseat as the hunt begins for the healthiest man and woman in the city with the launch of city’s first and only health pageant, Hale Chakra 2012 on Saturday.

Termed a City’s first and only health pageant, the event is open for men and women in the age of 20-40 and the focus will on healthy lifestyle as well as the importance of being and feeling healthy, said the organizers during a press conference to mark World Health Day.

The event kicks off with a IQ test by Lenovo, health examination by Global Hospitals, Dental Examination by Dr Smilez, Fitness Assessments by 99 degree Fahrenheit, adventure sport session by the wild tribe and grooming sessions by Naturals Salon and yoga sessions by 136.1 yoga studio.

Louis Chong, executive director of Healthy World Lifestyle, Malaysia and Arun Sharma, director of Sharma Brothers Retail, which is the exclusive distributor of Ogawa, said the competition features an extensive range of gifts and prices worth Rs five lakh for the winners and participants.

In addition to the healthy man and healthy woman title, Hale Chakra also features other subtitles which include Health Physique (male and female), Healthy Smilez (male and female), healthy minds (male and female), Tribal Prince and Princess, Fitness Pro (male and female) and Healthy Skin and Hair (male and female).

Anybody with valid government identification can participate in the contest by filling in a form available at registration kiosks at shopping malls and public places. “We expect atleast 3,000 to register for  the event of which we will be screening 150 for the preliminary rounds.

The preliminary rounds include health examination, dental examination, fitness assessments, yoga sessions, grooming activities and health IQ quiz to guage the health quotient of the participants, said Arun Sharma, adding that the aggregate highest scorer will be crowned health man and healthy woman at a Grand Finale in May 2012.
