Chennai:
The licence of Oil Chemical tanker Pratibha Cauvery,
which ran aground south of Chennai Port on Wednesday, expired the day it
discharged low diesel oil at Chennai Port.
Port officials told Express the Vessel Classification
Certificate of the ship got expired on September 29 after it discharged the
cargo at the port.
The expiry of licence, which was issued by Indian
Register of Shipping, made the ship not seaworthy and it was to go to the dry
dock of Mumbai.
