Yamaha Motor India registers an annual sales growth of 34pc in 2013

New Delhi: The year 2013 was certainly a hit for Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. as the Company witnessed robust growth with its successful entry into the scooter segment through the launch of Ray and Ray Z, which were instrumental in boosting its sales to new highs. The Company strengthened its position by clocking sales of 651,487 units in 2013, compared to 486,810 units in 2012, registering a growth of 34% over the last year.

In the domestic market, sales grew by 32.6%, with 461,814 units sold in 2013 against 348,346 units sold in 2012. The 2013 export figures stood at 189,673 units, while 138,464 units were exported in 2012, a growth of 37%.

In December 2013, Yamaha sold 39,777 units in the domestic market against 25,123 units sold in December 2012, registering a growth of 58%. In the export markets, the Company sold 25,220 units in December 2013, compared to 22,360 units sold in the same month last year, achieving a growth of 13%. Overall sales stood at 64,997 units in December 2013 against 47,483 units sold in December 2012, for a 37% overall growth.

Elaborating on the results, Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, “Despite industry travails, 2013 was an excellent year for us and we are certainly pleased with our performance this year. Apart from our new scooter launches, the robust results can be attributed to our strong product portfolio and steadfast customer confidence. Our innovative marketing strategies and exciting product portfolio across segments have also helped us reap good results. We’re looking at further expanding our dealership network across India as well as enhance our customer care services. The future definitely seems exciting and we look forward to improving our performance in 2014 as well.”
