Chennai:
The Madras High court on Wednesday directed the secretary of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to publish all marks of the candidates who appeared for the Group II of the Combined Subordinate Services Exams-I held on November 4, 2012.
Justice S Nagamuthu after hearing the writ petition of A Gopikrishnan directed TNPSC to publish the results to inform the public that the commission is fair in its approach.
“As a well known saying ‘Ceaser’s wife must be above Suspicion’ goes, in order to inform the general public that TNPSC has been fair in its approach, it ought to have published the marks before calling the candidates for the interview,” the judge observed.
Gopikrishnan in his petition said he has sought the exact marks secured by him in written examination and TNPSC did not oblige him. The petitioner alleged that as per tentative key answers he should have secured 210 marks out of 300 marks. He claimed he was not called for the interview though some of the candidates who would have secured less marks were called.
The judge observed that where transparency is the hallmark of fairness on the part of the authorities concerned, there can be no justification to decline to publish the marks until final results are published.
