Family breaks five-year-old silence over Sadhick Batcha

Chennai:
After maintaining a stoic silence for exactly five years, the family
members of AM Sadhick Batcha, the managing director of Green Earth
Promoters who was found dead sparking a controversy due to his alleged
links to former Union Telecom Minister A Raja and the 2G spectrum sale
scam, finally broke their silence with a newspaper advertisement on
Wednesday.

On his fifth death anniversary today, the family released an
advertisement in Tamil newspapers to mourn his death in which it
blamed political interference as the cause for the downfall of the
company. It read: “Senjottru kadan theerkka..seraadha idam serndhu ...
vanjathil veezhndhaayae ... (You pledged your loyalty and fell in the
trap of great deception)”.

Batcha’s brother-in-law Ashik said the deceased had told his wife how
pained he was that the company he had built through his hardwork was
mired in controversy over the 2G spectrum sale scam investigation. “He
was under tremendous pressure,” reveals Ashik.

They are upset that Batcha’s family did not get anything from the
company that he formed and nurtured. The family was expecting some
shares in the company as Batcha was instrumental in starting the
company. “Gradually, people with political background entered the firm
as shareholders and some were appointed as directors,” Ashik alleged.

In an interview to an English news channel, Ashik said that they have
approached the company law board and have filed a case alleging that
the company is being mismanaged.

Soon after the issue came out, the AIADMK sought detailed
investigation into the case. The DMK leadership went into a huddle,
with Raja calling on party chief M Karunanidhi at his CIT Colony
residence during the day.

It is alleged that Raja's relatives had stakes in Green House
Promoters. The CBI suspected that the real estate company was used to
channel ill-gotten money generated through the controversial sale of
precious spectrum, and thus, as part of the investigation, Batcha was
questioned thrice by the agency. As he was expected to be grilled
again, Batcha was found hanging inside his house in Chennai five years
ago.
