Chennai:
A total of 379 officers, including 288 gentlemen cadets and 71 ladies, will earn their stripes during the passing out parade on Saturday.
This will the largest batch ever to pass out from OTA Chennai in its half a century old history.
The parade is slated to be reviewed by Lt Gen A K Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-chief of army’s southern command, said Lt Gen SS Jog, Commandant of the Academy.
He said the batch also includes 20 cadets from Afghanistan due to join Afghan National Army. Since this is the golden jubilee year of the academy, the passing out parade is expected to be one of the grandest ever parade.
Jog also said that the army is facing a shortage of officers. “We are short of 14,000 officers,” he said adding that it will be bridged soon.
