Ennore Port pays dividend of Rs 12.90 crore to Union govt

Ennore Port Limited (EPL) paid a dividend of Rs 12.90 crore to the Union government and Rs 6.44 crore dividend to Chennai Port on Saturday.

Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan received a dividend cheque of Rs 12.90 crore from chairman and managing director of Ennore Port S Velumani at a function here on Saturday.

The minister also handed over EPL cheque of Rs 6.44 crore to deputy chairman of Chennai Port P C Parida.

This is the fourth dividend payment to government and Chennai Port by Ennore Port, which has reported pre and post tax profit of Rs 120.96 crore and Rs 96.72 crore respectively as against Rs 69.86 crore and Rs 55.58 crore respectively reported previous year. EPL has declared dividend of 20 per cent on post tax profit which works out to Rs 19.34 crore as against Rs 11.11 crore paid as dividend last year. Of the amount, the union government gets Rs 12.90 crore and Chennai Port gets 6.44 crore as dividend from EPL.
