Chennai:
More than 1.5 lakh Central Government employees in Tamil Nadu would participate in the all India two-day strike called by Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers from Feb 12.
Addressing a M Duraipandian, general secretary of the confederation said that the stir is being called after the government refused to accept the 15 point charter of demands.
The demands include Dearness Allowance merger in the seventh pay commission, Interim relief for the central government employees prior top the implementation of the 7th pay commission, regularisation and revision of wages of gramin dak sewaks.
Duraipandian highlighted that the gramin dak sewaks have no social security, no fixed income and are treated a spart time workers. “They also don’t enjoy the benefits accorded to a normal employee,” he said.
He said the confederation has also demanded an employee representative in the pay commission.
Duraipandian also said the confederation demanded cashless hassle free medical facilities for central government employees, removal of restrictions on compassionate appointments besides removal of bonus ceiling.
