Trial run of Chennai Metro rail in next few days

Chennai:
Chennaites could soon see the metro train chugging between Koyambedu and Ashok Nagar in the next few days.
Chennai Metro Rail sources told Express that the trial run would commence either tomorrow or day after tomorrow once the required infrastructure is in place.
Although the metro rail did have its maiden trial run last month end, the proposed trial run could boost the efforts of metro rail to meet the June-July deadline so that Chennaites can start enjoying 11km metro rail ride on elevated stretch between Koyambedu and St Thomas Mount.
Metro rail sources also said that discussion are on with the state government over three corridors but nothing has been finalized in this regard yet. “It is still in the initial stage. We don’t know whether it could be used for monorail, metro rail or Bus rapid transit system,” said the source.
It will be decided based on the future demand as well as passenger traffic, the source said.
He also said the next pair of trains from Brazil would arrive in Chennai by the month end or beginning of next month. “our team has gone to Brazil to undertake checks after which it will be imported to Chennai,” he said.
