Chennai:
The Union government would provide Rs 637 crore for Tamil Nadu
Transmission Corporation to implement green energy corridor project,
according to joint secretary of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
Alok Shrivastava.
Speaking on the sidelines of FOWIND stakeholder sensitization workshop
to facilitate Offshore Wind in India, Shrivastava said that the funds
would soon be cleared by the Union government.
The fund is being sanctioned under the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF).
This comes in the wake of Tantransco working on a green corridor
project between Chennai and Kayatharu in southern Tamil Nadu. Under
the green energy corridor project, Tantransco will put up another
transmission line between Theni and Salem, and a line between
Pavurchatram and Kovilpatti in southern Tamil Nadu.
Implementation of green energy corridor projects will be accelerated
to facilitate evacuation of renewable energy across the country, he
said.
