Sugar mill workers in the state have threatened to strike work seeking
pay parity with the state government workers.
Elavari, president of Tamil nadu cooperative and Public Sector Sugar
Mills Workers Federation Joint Action Committee told reporters that
the 18 sugar mills in Tamil nadu has 6,500 employees but only 800 of
them are getting salary on par with state government employees.
“Others are getting salary through wage settlement. We want to
eradicate the dual wage system,” he said.
He also urged the government to implement the report submitted by
bureaucrat Rajiv Ranjan.
We are planning to take out a massive procession on September 4 from
Rajaratnam stadium. “If our demands are still not met then we will
stage a stir on September 17.
