Chennai: A
total of 939 passengers are being
tracked for Ebola Virus and most of them are in the States of
Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, according to Union health ministry.
The Integrated
Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is tracking these passengers. Report has
been received from the State IDSP units located in 18 of the 20 States. A total
of 72 passengers are being monitored. One passenger, who is being tracked and
monitored in West Bengal has confirmed to be having Malaria (P.falciparum).
During past
24 hours, 193 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the
Airports of Mumbai (72), Delhi (66), Chennai (17), Bangalore (15), Kochi (12),
Trivandrum (9) and Kolkata (2). No high risk (Suspect case) has been admitted since
August 29, 2014 to any of the identified health facilities. About 15009
passengers arriving at International airports have been screened since the alert
was sounded on August 10, 2014.
The Control
Room in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has received 701 calls
since its inception on August 9, 2014 morning and only three calls were received
in the last 24 hours. Most of the callers have sought information on signs and
symptoms of the disease and travel related risk of acquiring the infection, a
Union health ministry release stated.
