Chennai Metro gets green signal to operate trains between Koyambedu to Alandur

Chennai:
Chennai Metro trains have now got a green signal to operate between
Koyambedu and Alandu.

Metro rail soures said that Chennai Metro Rail has achieved a
milestone with Researh Design and Standards Organisation issuing
Interim Speed Certificate for operation of Standard Gauge Chennai
Metro Train from Koyambedu to Alandur section of Corridor II.

The statutory certification of Metro System involves Oscillation and
Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials to be conducted by RDSO,
Lucknow representing the Ministry of Railways as per the relevant
provisions. The trials involve running the train in the full section   
of CMRL track and recording various safety and other parameters
related to passenger comfort.

Accordingly, the team of RDSO headed by the Director, testing of
Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) have conducted
their Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance trials during June
2014 between Koyambedu to Alandur section of corridor II of CMRL track
and recordings were made.

After validation of the results obtained during the trials, RDSO has
issued the Interim Speed Certificate for operation of Standard Gauge
Chennai Metro Train from Koyambedu to Alandur section of Corridor II.
