Two Central Bureau of Investigation officials from Chennai are among the seven officers across India who have been selected for President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
A CBI spokeswoman said that Syed Bazlullah, additional superintendent of police, anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Chennai and A J Ramalingam, deputy superintendent of police, anti-corruption bureau (ACB) have been selected for their distinguished service.
Both the officials have made a significant contribution to the organisation. Syed Bazlullah joined CBI in 1985 and was trained at National Police Academy, Hyderabad. He stints at New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai and was instrumental in investigating many high profile anti- corruption cases.
Earlier, he got President’s Police Medal for meritorious service in 2007. He had undergone training at United States.
Ramalingam joined the CBI as sub inspector and was posted in New Delhi for the last 15 years. He worked in the confidential section for three years under the CBI director. He also travelled abroad to investigate a sensitive case in Luxembourg, France, Belgium and Austria.
Transferred to Chennai on 2003, Ramalingam was sent on deputation to United Nations in 2006-07. He was training the newly formed police force of Kosovo in Pristina.
