Kamarajar Port has dropped the plan to acquire Puducherry Port, a year after signing a memorandum of understanding with Puducherry government.
Chairman and Managing Director of Kamarajar Port M A Bhaskarachar told express that they have dropped the plan to acquire Kamarajar Port as Kamarajar Port could not hire a good consultant who could advise on the feasibility of the project.
This comes after Kamarajar Port had planned the development of the minor port in Puducherry through a special purpose vehicle.
Interestingly, the feasibility report was already prepared and with the signing of MoU last year, plan was to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for developing the port to handle cruise ships, bunkering and co astal movement of containers through barges.
