Grand Slam Baseball marks 70th Anniversary of UN in New Delhi

New Delhi:

United Nations Day was observed in New Delhi in a rather unusual way; with an exhibition international youth baseball match; and, in the true spirit of the UN, with student players representing several nations of the world being hosted in the Flanagan baseball field in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

US Ambassador Richard Verma and director of UN Information Centre Kiran Mehra Kerpelman inaugurated the Grandslam Baseball Little League.

Showcasing unity and diversity, this exhibition match was viewed by over 200 guests - members of the UN family, diplomats, NGOs and school and college staffers.

The New Delhi Little League, a decades-old tradition held annually in the US Embassy, perfectly captured the spirit of diversity and collaboration that captured the spirit of the United Nations. School students from Pathways- Gurgaon, Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram and Modern School, Barakhamba Road, played against students from several international schools in Delhi.
