Five Sri Lankan fishing boats nabbed

Chennai:
Five Sri Lankan fishing boats along with 26 crew were apprehended by Indian coast guard in a sea-air coordinated operation east of Krishnapatnam and Puducherry waters.

A Coast guard spokesman said that the boats were apprehended by Indian coast guard ships Vishwast and Rajshree on Wednesday and Thursday.

The boats Ranil (IMUL-A-0037-TCO), Nanduni (IMUL-A-0152-TCO), Chamera (IMUL-A-1164-MTR), Chamera-1      (IMUL-A-0774-MTR) AND Anusha-1 (IMUL-A-0145-TCO) were apprehended under Maritime Zone of India Act 1981.

Twenty Sri Lankan crew along with four Sri lankan fishing boats were handed over to police on Thursday and one boat with six crew are being escorted to Chennai for handing over to local police
