Chennai:
Income tax sleuths found Rs 2 crore of unaccounted cash and 5 kg of jewelry during search operations being conducted in 17 premises of a soap manufacturing company.
Income tax sources told Express that nearly 13 premises in tamil nadu and Pondicherry were searched following an tip off of tax evasion by the firm Power Soaps.
Raids are also simultaneously being conducted in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
Income tax officials said that 17 teams are involved in the raids. Sources said that nine premises of Power Soap, including four in Chennai were searched. These include the factories of the company.
