Jilla production company SuperGood films under IT scanner

Chennai:
As the film buffs are eagerly awaiting the release of Tamil film star Vijay’s Jilla, the production company SuperGood films is under the scanner of Income Tax sleuths.

It was on 10.45 am, sleuths of Income Tax department conducted second search operation on the premises of SuperGood films, owned by R B Choudhary in T Nagar. Choudhary has produced many successful films like Love Today, Thullatha Manamun Thullum and Thiruppachi.

Income Tax sources told Express that the search is being conducted on Super Good Films as they suspect certain issues have yet to be resolved.

“Some of the expenses on production of films are believed to be doubtful in nature,” said an Income Tax source.

On October 31, Income Tax conducted raids at houses and offices of several film personalities, including SuperGood Films owner R B Choudhary, who has done many multilingual films in four languages, namely Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

“The searches were carried out then as we were suspecting that the production company is not paying their correct taxes,” he said.

The second search is being carried out as there are some indications of their inflated expenditure, the IT source said.

Meanwhile, Income tax searches are also being conducted at the offices of two sea food companies, including Diamond Sea Foods, in Madurai, Thoothkudi, Tirunelveli and Trichy.
