Chennai: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tamil Nadu
State Council has welcomed Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to reduce the power
cut imposed on high-tension consumers and commercial establishments in the
State.
The state government has said that except for the peak hours, there will be no power cut in the State. For the peak hours (6 pm to 10 pm) the power cut has been reduced from 90 per cent to 40 per cent.
Narayan Sethuramon, chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council said, “The current decision of reducing power cut would give a boost to the economy by rejuvenating the industry and would help to recover from a lull. The various proactive measures taken up by the state government in the power sector under the leadership of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would help Tamil Nadu to surge ahead on industrial development”.
Sethuramon said that various power projects in the State from different sources are expected to be commissioned soon including the 1200 MW North Chennai Thermal Power Plant (Stage II, Units I & 2). Besides, Tamil Nadu’s leadership in wind energy and the solar policy announced by the Chief Minister would give a boost for capacity addition in the renewable energy front.
As of now the relaxation has been provided till September end. CII hopes that there will be complete relaxation from restriction and control measures based on the additional power generated in the State due to the efforts of state government on a war footing basis.
