Heavy rainfall is expected in Western Tamil Nadu especially in hilly areas of Coimbatore, Erode, Theni and Nilgiris in the next 48 hours as the upper air cyclonic circulation over Sri Lanka has moved to Comorin area, according to regional meteorological department here.
Regional Meteorological centre, director S R Ramanan said due to this phenomenon moderate to rather heavy rain would occur at many places in Tamil Nadu over Vellore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindugal, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu.
Light to moderate rain would also occur at a few places over remaining districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Isolated heavy rain may occur over hill ranges of Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Erode districts of Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours
Interestingly, the city is likely to be partly cloudy with rain or thundershower likely to occur in some areas during evening or night.
Meanwhile, Gobichettypalayam in Erode district recieved 110 mm of rain followed by Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri (100 millimeter of rain), Thali (Krishnagiri Dist) 80mm, Rayakottah (Krishnagiri Dist) 70mm, Hosur (Krishnagiri Dist), Thalavadi (Erode Dist) and Ennore AWS (Tiruvallur Dist) 50mm each.
