Chennaites are now being wooed to go in for wooden floors, which are made from ultra-durable sustainable materials and is claimed as being scratch and stain proof.
Addressing a press conference here, Andrew Hughes, manager of products and marketing Avant Enterprises, and N R Alluri, managing director of NCC Urban Infrastructure Limited said that the wooden floor market is worth seven million square metres in India and has a five per cent share in the total flooring market.
Interestingly, the wooden floors are being imported from Germany to India. Hughes said that NCC Urban will be marketing Avant’s products in Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
He said that these avant-grade products have been a global success owing to the high quality and sustainability Avant products available in more than 20 countries.
Hughes said the wooden flooring products would have a 20 year interior warranty and was positive that it will be welcomes in Tamil nadu. Currently, the product enjoys a growing market share and have received wide acceptability from around the world.
Avant flooring is embossed to replicate the elegance and warmth of popular timber species such as teak, mahogany and rosewood. The composite used in Avant flooring can be efficiently used indoors and outdoors, offering high versatility in all situations. “It is 100 per cent water proof and UV resistant and ism suitable for use around fisheries, docks, yachts and houseboast,” he added.
The cost of wooden floor is Rs 200 to rs 360 per square metre and it is believed that hotels are going in for this product. Alluri said that the tie-up comes at a time when NCC is planning to build two projects. “We are planning to build two properties. One in Sholinganallur and another at Pallavaram,” said Alluri.
