Chennai:
A fishing boat with 10 crew that was reported missing since last Tuesday was rescued by Indian Coast Guard.
A Coast Guard spokesman said that the stranded crew, which sailed from Kasimedu harbour of the city, was located six nautical miles of Kodiakarai.
Coast guard said during the week long operation, a coast guard ship Rajkamal and coastguard Dornier from the city were pressed into service despite cyclonic weather conditions.
“It was the Dornier that located the boat anchored at Kodiakarai (TN/02/MFB/648) with no fuel onboard.
Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajkamal then provided necessary assistance to the fishing boat and took the boat under its tow. The boat is now being towed to Mandapam, said the Coast guard spokesman.
