Chennai:
Comedy actor Vadivelu’s comeback film Tenaliraman is facing a legal hurdle after a Telugu outfit has approached Madras High Court seeking an interim direction to stop the release of the film.
The petition which was filed by Tamil Nadu Telugu Makkal Peravai represented by its founder president Balagurusamy and Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Shakti represented by president K Jagadeeswara Reddy alleged that the film ridicules Vijayanagar king Krishnadevaraya and urged the High court to issue interim direction to screen the movie to Telugu representative organization or authorities which may be appointed by high Court before releasing the film.
The petitioners alleged the film will twist the history and create bad precedent. They also alleged that AGS Entertainment said they are ready to screen the movie to Telugu organization but till now they have not taken steps in this regard when the movie is likely to be released by April 18.
The first bench comprising acting chief justice Satish K Agnihotri and M M Sundresh told the petitioners to post the matter to some other bench after getting orders from acting chief justice.
