HC reserves order on Puducherry court contempt case

22 Puducherry cops appear before court after being summoned
Chennai:
Twenty-two of the 23 police officials, involved in the protest before a Puducherry court on December 19, 2008, and abuse of chief judge for denying a bail to a sub-inspector arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation in a corruption case, appeared before Madras High Court after being summoned.
The bench comprising of acting chief justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice K K Sasidharan while treating the report submitted by the chief judge of Puducherry D Krishnaraja as a Suo Motu contempt petition reserved its orders.
A home guard, who is stated to be abroad, did not appear.
The court dispensed with further appearance of the police officials. Arvind P Dattar, amicus curie, assured the bench that it will not happen in future.
N T Sivadasan, then superintendent of police, head quarters, has also submitted that it will not happen in future. IRC Mohan, who is currently the SP, head quarters also appeared before the Court.
