HC directs EC to look into pictorial representations in LKG book

Chennai:
Madras High Court has directed the Election Commission to look into the issue of pictorial representations of certain alphabets in lower kindergarten book under the new syllabus and pass appropriate orders.
The first bench comprising comprising acting chief justice
Satish K Agnihotri and M M Sundresh after hearing the petition of Purachi Ganesh said that Election commission may consider the representation and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.
The petitioner in his petition has stated that the alphabet S in the textbook denotes Sun with a glass. According to him this resembles of a political party leader of Tamil Nadu. He also stated that there is a pictorial representation of a rising sun at the bottom of the page with the cock raising his voice.
Stating that pictorial representation is contrary to law and justice, he has sought removal of pages 11 and 94 from the textbook.
