Chennai:
The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has
invested more than Rs 3,500 crore in Thiruvallur district, according to
treasurer of Tanstia and president of Thamizhaga Chiruthozhil and Tiny Industries
(TACTIS) association M Hindunathan.
He said that the Global Investment Meet to be held in
Chennai has attracted huge investments worth around Rs 10,000 crore from the
MSME sector alone.
He said that 296 entrepreneurs owing allegiance to his
association alone has invested Rs 456.6 crore. “We have the largest association
comprising of 1,800 members and of the Rs 3,500 crore that came into
Thiruvallur, our share was Rs 456.6 crore,” said Hindunathan.
Interstingly, Hindunathan is demanding 1,000 acre of land
for the investors. “If the investment has to be realized, we require land and
SIDCO chairman JCD Prabhakar has accepted our request,” he said.
Interestingly, a total of 36 banks have extended loans to
the 296 entrepreneurs.
Speaking during the event organized by TANSTIA and TACTIS,
Prabhakar highlighted how the state, which was facing power crisis when the
government came to power, has nearly resolved it. “Now there are no eight hour
or 10 hour power cuts. We now have zero power cuts,” he said while highlighting
the achievement of the state government.
Talking about the investments, Hindunathan said most of
them cater to auto components, plastics, rubber and oil companies.
Ambattur MLA S Vedachalam, V Raju, president of Ambattur
Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) and C Babu, general
secretary of Tanstia also spoke on the occasion.
