Chennai:
A Japanese firm will be developing industrial park in an
area of 110 hectare area in Sriperumbudur.
A presentation by Yashushi Nishimura, executive officer
Retail Division of Sojitz Corporation said that the industrial park would be
set up 45 km from Chennai.
The park will be developed in collaboration with the
Motherson Group, one of India’s largest maker of automobile parts such as wire
harnesses.
Known as Sojitz Motherson Industrial Park (SMPI), it will
feature a permanent management office with Japanese personnel, centralized
water processing facilities, warehouse and logistics facilities, rental plants,
and other service facilities to precisely meet the needs of Japanese firms that
are advancing into the country.
Nishimura said that the facility will have 110 Kv power substation
besides will be get 2.8 MLD of water. It will also have sewage treatment plants
besides optical cable network provided by Japanese telecom company.
The SMIP is the fourth overseas industrial park developed
by Sojitz. Sojitz previously established the GIIC Park in Indonesia, which is
the only ASEAN country in the G20, the Loteco Industrial Park and the Long Duc
Industrial Park in Vietnam, which is undergoing rapid development and is said
to be the leader among the VISTA countries to be followed by the SMIP in India,
a leading Asian country.
Approval were sought from directorate of town and country
planning on September 2013 and the civil work and construction of
infrastructure would start in 2015. By 2016, the tenants will be taking over
the facility.
Meanwhile, after setting up Integrated Industrial
Township ‘OneHub Chennai’, Mizuho Financial Group has inked an memorandum of
Understanding with Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau.
Jun Kuroki, general manager, Mizuho Bank during his
presentation at a seminar ‘Strengthening Japanese Investments in Tamil Nadu:
The Way Forward’ said that the MoU will help facilitate more Japanese
investments into Tamil Nadu.
According to the MoU, Guidance Bureau and Mizuho Bank
will support entry and business expansion of Japanese companies in Tamil Nadu.
As per the MoU, Guidance Bureau and Mizuho Bank will also
periodically exchange opinions at the management level as well as expand the
function of information disseminating using web based tools
